Chartered on 11th April 1974, the Rotary Club of Solapur North began with 42 members, led by Charter President Late Rtn. Subhash Bubane, Charter Secretary Rtn. Keshav Keni, and Charter Treasurer Rtn. H. P. Daga, with GSR Rtn. Dr. C. S. Apte. Today, the club proudly boasts 60+ active members, making it one of the largest in Rotary International District 3132. Renowned for impactful health camps, the club has conducted Cataract Surgery Camps, Family Planning Camps, and Orthopedic Surgery Camps. It has actively participated in VTT, Rotary Youth Exchange, and Friendship Exchange, sponsoring GSE and NGSE team members.
During 1993-94, Rtn. Dr. Anil Gunjotikar, as District Governor, led the club’s remarkable rehabilitation efforts for Killari earthquake victims, earning the prestigious Rotary International Service-Above-Self Award. Rtn. Rajgopal Zanwar was also honored for his outstanding contributions. Also the club contributed lion’s share of the district project of reconstruction Salegaon village which was totally destroyed in the earthquake and is now known as Rotary village.
The club has successfully executed four major matching grant projects:
- Sanitation & Drinking Water Facilities – Gandhi Natha Rangji Digambar Jain School
- 136 Low-Cost Housing Units – Soregaon for Ashwini Hospital employees
- Well Reconstruction – Dnyan Prabodhini, Harali
- Dialysis Machine Donation – Civil Hospital, Solapur
Two flagship projects define the club’s service commitment:
- Rotary North Bhairuratan Damani Blind School – A residential school since 1987, supporting 45 visually impaired students.
- Rotary North Radhakisan Fomra School for Hearing Impaired – Currently educating 75 students.
The club has made a major contribution in TRF, having 2 major donors

- Rtn Dr Siddheshwar Wale
and 45 Paul Harris Fellows. PP Rtn Ramesh Khatawkar, Rtn Dr Girish Kumthekar and Rtn Dr Milind Shah have lead GSE team to USA in 2000-01, 2002-03 and 2013-14 repeatedly. The club has participated several times in RYE and RFE programs. It has also sponsored GSE team members. The club is very much active in community and vocational service helping needy people. The club has 2 charitable trusts. Club members participate in District Events like District Conference, RLI, Assemblies and forums. It has won the Best Club Award and all avenues trophies many times. Many members of club are serving RID 3132 as District Officers on various key positions.
Committed to community and vocational service, the club actively supports charitable trusts, district events, and leadership roles. It has earned multiple Best Club Awards and continues to shape a glorious legacy with a promising future.
